Proposal:
Ekurhuleni Photographic and Print-Making Exhibition features specially selected works and presentation by students from our Ekurhuleni Beginners Photography Project in Duduza and Print Classes at Rhoo Hlatshwayo Community Art Centre in Daveyton.
Ekurhuleni is host to an abundance of talented artists with no proper platforms to expand their artistic knowledge. Alongside other forms of artistic disciplines, photography and print-making a specialised field which requires specific type of equipment and technical knowledge. Individual amateur and aspiring photographers and print-makers, aged between 13 and 35 have been taught the basics of print-making and digital photography respectively. We have a total number of 30 students combined together.
The Photography and Print-Making Project are an extension of the Municipality’s existing Art Development School Programme presented by the Ekurhuleni Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture.
Biography:
The Springs Art Gallery is the only Civic Gallery in the whole of Ekurhuleni. To support Departmental programme and the local Visual Arts and Crafts industry, we have an on-going commitment to developing more creative partnerships between the arts and business communities in Ekurhuleni, enhancing the business skills of the arts sector and the creative engagement of the business sector.
