Proposal:
This work deals with the liminal nature of being a woman. Where roles are continuously changing, being a mother, daughter , professional. This is a series about the space between the roles that we play and occupy as woman. The transition between one role and the next. The unseen moments that no one can be aware of.
Biography:
Michelle Loukidis received her photographic training at TUT in Pretoria. She has always had a keen interest in photographic development, and as a result has throughout most of her career worked as a trainer and mentor, for young photographers at the Market Photo Workshop in Newtown, Johannesburg. Many students have then gone on to receive important grants and mentorships through her guidance. She has personally exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. In 2006 her work was included in a publication by the Department of Arts and Culture, called Women by Women. Michelle prefers working in film using both medium and large format cameras, where she feels she has more control in the final product. She currently works and lives in Johannesburg.
