Proposal:

What is your work about?
My work is primarily centred on humanity and lifestyle, it lays emphasis
on colour and abstract expressions.
It is interpreted, in my own subjective visual impression, leaving no boundaries, except an idea of the subject matter.

The work I’m proposing for the fringe exhibition, is abstract art about faces, hence the title FACES UNKNOWN. It is an abstract rendition of women and men’s faces in silhouettes referencing faces of people we work with, family and people we deal with on a day to day basis or people that attract our attention but are detached from our own reality yet they affect us.. Interacting with people is something I enjoy doing. I try to imagine what their silhouettes in abstract art would look like with reference to their character, demeanor, facial expressions, life situations and occupation.

As an artist, my curiosity to create these Ink based abstract art paintings, stems from a need to see people from another perspective free of facial features and all the seriousness that goes with portraits. This thought has informed the basis for this series.

Biography:

Born 1971 July, in Port Harcourt Nigeria, Miabo is an international fine artist whose art works represent modern contemporary art.

A fine art graduate from the University of Ibadan Nigeria, with a degree honours in Fine and Applied arts education since 1992 and a Ford Foundation art award from the Nigerian Institute of Art, Terra kulture in 2006. A certified interior decorator from the Inscape design college Rosebank, Johannesburg.

Miabo has been involved in several solo and group art exhibitions with a strong online presence and has had several media interviews over the years.

She is an Artpreneur,art blogger and a certified interior decorator whose works have been widely collected privately.

Miabo currently lives in Johannesburg South Africa with her husband who works with Multichoice(DSTV DIGITAL MEDIA) and
has three kids.
