Bisschoff & De Villiers

Proposal:

A two-person exhibition of artworks. The two of us have been painting our very particular interpretations of skies and variations thereof for many years and have decided to co-exhibit in order to give audiences a powerful visual experience. Much of our work is based on influences of the Old Masters with a definite 21st century zeitgeist of anxiety, violence, death and ecological intrusions. We also share a varied interest in the painting of still lifes and other subject matter. Olaf Bischoff appends found objects, still life, figures and other subjects to his land/cloudscapes work, separately as adjuncts or on glass overlays. De Villiers work deals with decay, destruction, nature versus humanity visualised in often ferocious cloudscapes and sparse still lifes emphasising the transitory nature of life. He works in both abstract and realist modes to achieve this vision.
