The Mechanisms of Memory

Description
Curated by Michaela Limberis
Memory decays, distorts, or revives in response to new contexts. This exhibition intends to realise the manipulative nature of photography as a significant metaphor for the algorithms of perception, peeling away the membrane of certainty in sight.
About
Art Meets is the umbrella entity: a growing and inclusive community consisting of artists, curators and writers, who gather monthly todiscuss their work and the current climate of the art-world, specifically the local industry. We are interested in making the art-inspired dialogue and processes available to a wider audience, including students.
Art Meets TV is a conversation-based YouTube channel creating a central online hub for local visual arts content. The idea is to empower and elevate local artists and their audience to become active and accessible participants within the global dialogue. We record many of the discussions at our Art Meets as a starting point to create relevant content.
Art Meets Camera conducts an ongoing series of exhibitions and talks/conversatoins interrogating the nature of photography as an art-form, pushing the limits of the medium to emphasise the concept and process over the traditional display and interpretation of photographic work.
Michaela Limberis is the content manager and founding director of Art Meets TV and Art Meets Camera. She is also an artist representative, independant curator.
