James Nilsen-Misra |
Proposal:
My dark images offer a subtlety of indistinct form. Revealing and concealing studio installations. Intrigued by the shadowed memory of the archive, here the Kallenbach/Gandhi gay myth of petroleum jelly on a mantle shelf near the bed as a “constant reminder” of Kallenbach having taken complete possession of his body.
Biography:
A visual artist born in Port Elizabeth in 1981, now based in Cape Town. James’ works have been exhibited at Everard Read Gallery, Ebony Curated, Rust En Vrede Gallery, ABSA gallery and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum.
