Proposal:
A series of mixed media works that chronicle the trials and tribulations of existing in a heaving metropolis.
The works serve to rehumanise the marginalized through the telling of graphic narratives that I have experienced and witnessed.
Sex, drugs, pain, loneliness-
A laying bare of the human psyche.

Biography:
My name is James Thomas.
I am 20 years old and a skateboarder/artist from the city of Johannesburg.
I went to Greenside Highschool and matriculated in 2014 before going to Wits to study architecture.
Two years into scribbling over plans and elevations and nearly clawing my eyes out
daily, I abandoned my studies and delved into art.
In an attempt to quel the white noise I’d been experiencing in my head, I began to spill my thoughts, experiences and feelings resulting from traversing the city onto canvas.
I find solace in shuffling through the depravity Jozi yields, beyond the electric-fenced walls and manicured gardens of the suburbs I’ve dedicated myself to exploring what lurks within.
