En Suit: or “under the jacket”
This collection was originally shot as a harbinger for a dance performance at Young Blood in Cape Town – First Thursdays. This is a collaboration with dancer / choreographer Kristin Wilson. We worked closely with the dancers in a workshop-style shoot with a very limited budget in a very limited time frame. Its a playful exploration of dress in preparation – as was the dance piece; in preparation with costumes still in the making. Images of patterns and dressmaking are projected onto the dancers.
As with most of Rob and Kristin’s work this is best described as an incarnation of a conversation – the best kind of collaboration.

Biography:
Rob Mills and Kristin Wilson have worked together on and off over the past 10 years. Together they have explored integrating images, animation and video with live performance on stage. Rob is an engineer / latter-life photographer who’s photography has engaged mainly with dance and dancers over the past 17 years. Kristin is one of SA’s most respected contemporary and ballet dancers and is known for her creativity in choreographing playful, and sharply insightful works.
