I use photography as a means of self-expression. Whilst studying communication science, I realized that I needed a medium I could use to cut across language barriers because, in South Africa alone, we have eleven official languages of which I only speak two. In my photography, I wish to tell stories that can impact people’s lives. When I work with my camera, I’m reminded that I have to use veracity when dealing with my subjects. Colour and light are two elements I enjoy exploring in my photography. My awareness of my environment is often shown in the themes that I choose. I want to create meaning with my images. I’ve worked on issues like teenage pregnancies, land reform, drugs and I’ve done for an NGO. The issues I dealt with inform, educate and create an awareness to the viewers. I take pleasure in meeting people and exploring new places. I strive to constantly achieve visually engaging work.
